About Us

The Lauriston Hotel enjoys an enviable position right next to Weston-super-Mare’s seafront, just a short walk from the vast beach and the town’s iconic Grand Pier.  The town centre, along with its Blakehay Theatre and Playhouse Theatre are just around the corner and there’s a Wetherspoon pub opposite and Weston College is adjacent to the hotel.

Right next to the car park are lawns and gardens where you can sit and enjoy a beverage or meal whilst people watching and looking at people enjoying themselves at the beach.

The hotel is one of the most welcoming in Weston-super-Mare and is on the level.  It has ramps for easy access to the main entrance so it's perfectly positioned to cater for less mobile, blind or partially sighted guests.  Until a couple of years ago, the hotel was operated by a charity specifically for the blind and it was purchased by Weston College with the proviso that it would continue this tradition and for repeat guests, you’ll be pleased to know that many of the staff remained.

Of the 30 rooms there are half a dozen rooms with roll-in wet rooms to make it easier for those with walking difficulties to use the bathroom.  Although none of the rooms is officially classified as fully kitted out for the disabled, these rooms do make life easier and they are wheelchair accessible.  Many rooms are suitable for blind or partially sighted guests and menus are provided in braille and large-text versions.

You may find that some of the rooms that have not yet been refurbished might appear a little tired in what were originally Victorian/Georgian buildings, but they are perfectly clean and are reasonably priced.  Each has TV, tea and coffee making facilities, some are ground floor and some have side sea view.  There are lifts to the rooms on the upper floors.

Parking is free for residents, though spaces are limited and offered on a first come, first served basis.

The hotel welcomes well-behaved canine companions. Pet and assistance dogs are permitted everywhere in the hotel with the exception of the restaurant, but must stay on a lead in communal areas.  The hotel even provides dog towels at the entrance if your dog has had a swim in the sea!  For those who don’t want to take their dog into the main restaurant, the hotel will serve meals in the spacious bar area.

Weston-super-Mare is generally very dog friendly with large sections of the beach being open to dogs year round and an area between the Grand Pier and Knightstone Island, in other words right opposite The Lauriston Hotel, being one of them.  There are also several bars and restaurants that are dog friendly and even our independent department store on Weston-super-Mare’s high street permits dogs to come shopping!

The comfortable bar and restaurant both serve a range of delicious food at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Lauriston Hotel prides itself on customer care and provides a fantastic experience that will make you want to keep coming back! There's also a quieter lounge area for those who don't want to the bustle of a busy bar.

The Lauriston Hotel is the ideal base for visiting the area’s many attractions, such as Cheddar Gorge, Brean Down, Bristol Zoo, Weston Museum and the Helicopter Museum. It's also close to some great walks along Weston’s famous promenade, Uphill and Sand Bay.
